I have been a Designer member of CHA for over 5 years and can certainly attribute my professionalism to the many individuals I have met through my involvement with the association. My suggestion: Is to seek out the organization/group of individuals that resonate with your abilities, and learn share, and grow together! CHA the Craft and Hobby Assoc. is an international, not for profit trade association focused on developing the craft and creative industries across the U.S. and the world. CHA's members form an influential network of manufactures, publishers, service providers, retailers, designers and other creative professionals.  INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS - Companies whose principal business is providing sales services to craft, hobby, and creative industry members, or those companies in the business of designing, educating and demonstrating. This category includes manufacturer representatives, designers, educators, demonstrators, professional crafters, and bloggers.
In the last few months I have been most fortunate to have received Grant monies for projects, I am passionate about. The funding has come from proposals submitted to the Nevada State Arts Council (NAC), work and artistic visions that as an artist I would be pursuing in my everyday business. 
Grant funding was also provided by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). Both agencies the NAC & the NEA represent artists best interests in developing a viable arts business and support the industries of all the disciplines of the Arts and Arts Education in the schools and our communities. Many thanks to these fine agencies. Please support their efforts in all the ways you can!
